2001 Devil's Lair Fifth Leg Red

Leaving the competition reeling, a fresh catch of 5th Leg has surfaced. On the line Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offer up a perfumed, briary basket of black fruits spiced by the ever-present Shiraz. Also ready for a dip in the vinous pool is Cabernet Franc, rounding out the trio with the stealth of oak for structure and balance. Definitely a big fish in the pond. 5th Leg Red is now ready to be served. Are you going to throw this one back?

The 2001 Fifth Leg Red is a stunning wine, with excellent palate structure, sweet fruit and fine aromatics.

Grape Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz (Syrah), Merlot

Maturation: The wine was barrel aged for 12 months in a combination of American and French oak.

Medium to full bodied with a silky fruit-driven mid-palate. Persistent berry/cherry characters balanced with a firm structure. A mouthful of generous fruit flavours kept in check with fine tannins. The finish is long and persistent with an excellent balance of fruit and tannin.
