Menu: *****
TWO describes its electic menu as “Fiery American Cooking,” featuring wood-roasted meats and fish and a touch of Creole and barbeque. The mouth-watering menu offers something for everyone.

Food Quality: ****
TWO’s “Live Fire” cooking style, slow-roasted over the nation’s largest rotisserie and unique wood fire grill, provides intense flavor. Executive Chef Scott Serpas ensures food is cooked to perfection.

Food Presentation: ***
Prepared with flare, each dish is unique and pleasing to the eye as well as the palette. The garnish on each dish is often a meal unto itself.

Atmosphere: *****
Unique and energetic, with an edgy urban feel. The restored warehouse is a grand space softened with dramatic lighting. Live blues music sets the mood while a wall of garage-door windows overlook the city skyline. Sip cocktails in the lush courtyard or admire the impressive barrels of wine at the bar. At the heart of the open dining room is a “kitchen in the round” featuring a 14-foot rotisserie and an antique forge refurbished into a wonderful wood fire grill. Eye-catching original artwork and fresh flowers completes the scene.

Cleanliness: ***
Clean, organized space. The “kitchen in the round” gives guests a full view of their food as it is prepared, meaning no short-cuts or surprises. Be sure to check out the funky bathrooms, each of which becomes bathed in colored lighting as you enter.

Service: *****
TWO may be new, but it operates like a well-oiled machine. The high-energy staff is not only experienced and knowledgeable but also a lot of fun. Glad to recommend menu items with honesty.

Menu Recommendations:
For something unusual but delicious, try the bronzed scallops, served with smoked gouda grits and roasted eggplant butter. The smoky flavor of this southern-inspired dish enhances the perfectly prepared seafood. Or try the tuna, which is caraway-cumin seared and served with swiss chard over a bed of spaghetti squash for a delicious dish. The smoked beef brisket came highly recommended by a server, who loved the watermelon feta salad side.

Overall Rating: ****
TWO. urban licks promises to turn up the heat as one of the city’s best new hotspots, with a dramatic décor, an eclectic menu, an energetic staff, live entertainment and an innovative wine program. I’m giving the new restaurant four stars because, like a fine wine, it can only get better with age.
