Menu – ****
The overwhelming menu features unexpected choices. Touting fresh-off-the-vine ingredients and homemade everything, it’s a far cry from the obvious Latin fare. Unique starters include yucca fries served with a creamy ogao salsa and homemade potato chips. Savory soups are offered daily, as well as a vast selection of tacos and authentic Cuban cuisine. Top off your meal with a strong cup of café con leche and one of Salsa Havana’s delectable desserts.

Food Quality – ****
Only the freshest of ingredients enter Alex’s kitchen. Salsas are made daily with ripe tomatoes, and melt-in-your mouth homemade corn tortillas are brought to your table piping hot. Salsa Havana’s unique flavors are even evident in its simple dishes, such as the aromatic risotto-style white rice and savory black beans.

Food Presentation – ****
The dishes are what you’d expect of a place called Salsa. Vibrant colors and interesting textures make it as much a feast for the eyes as for the stomach. The margaritas and daiquiris are huge, and the desserts will take your breath away.

Atmosphere – ****
Vibrant hues and colorful artwork make Salsa Havana a naturally fun and festive place. The seats are plentiful and cozy, and the restaurant is great for casual, relaxed dining.

Cleanliness – ****
The wait staff efficiently whisks away discarded plates and keeps things spotless.

Service – ****
The wait staff is friendly and eager to help guide you though the menu. Our dishes were brought with alacrity and cheerfulness.

Menu Recommendations
With such a unique menu, the task of choosing one item may seem overwhelming. However, you will be thrilled with any dish. The Caribbean chicken, juicy and tender with a hull of complex spices, was my favorite. Do not pass up the homemade corn tortillas (only $1 extra with your taco order and good enough to eat alone) or the aromatic black beans and rice. And, of course, no meal would be complete without dessert. I can’t imagine leaving without sampling the cream cheese-infused flan de tres leches. It’s sheer heaven.

Overall Rating –****
Salsa Havana is a great escape from other Latin-esque cuisine. Its dishes are fresh and inspiring and a far cry from the daily routine. Spend a relaxing evening sipping a soothing strawberry or mango daiquiri and feasting on yucca fries. The menu appeals to all tastes and is sure to please. Salsa Havana is by far one of the most unique, flavorful restaurants in Atlanta.
