Ruth’s Chris Steak House offers a true fine-dining experience. The name itself gives you an idea that it is not the ideal place for a vegetarian to dine. Meat lovers can rejoice with their favorite cuts cooked just the way they like it. Steaks are served in their trademark way, sizzling in butter on a super-hot plate. Along with meat and seafood, there are delicious side dishes ideal for sharing.

MENU: *****
The name gives way to their featured item: steak. But along with choice cuts of beef, there are selections of seafood and chicken from which to choose. Side dishes come in large portions perfect for sharing. Also featured on the menu are dishes inspired by true New Orleans flavor, where the restaurant originated.

FOOD QUALITY: *****
The quality is superb. The food is consistent from one visit to the next. Steaks arrive cooked to the degree requested. Vegetables are fresh, and the crusty bread arrives warm at your table.

FOOD PRESENTATION: ***
While there’s nothing original to note about the presentation, sometimes simplicity is best. Dishes are presented in a basic manner with just the food in its original form – no garnishes or anything resembling a heaping tower. Steaks are brought to the table alone on a hot plate sizzling in butter, one of the things that Ruth’s Chris is best known for. If you’re watching your cholesterol, simply tell the waiter to hold the butter.

ATMOSPHERE: ****
The setting is formal without being pretentious. Nothing flashy catches your eye in their traditional-style dining room equipped with white linen tablecloths and wooden accents.

CLEANLINESS: ****
The place is squeaky clean down to the breadcrumbs swiped off the tables. Linens are changed after each table is turned over.

SERVICE: *****
The wait staff is very attentive to your needs. A basket of fresh bread promptly arrives at the table soon after sitting down. Waiters are knowledgeable about the different cuts of meat and are eager to recommend an ideal wine to accompany the meal. Courses are not served on top of each other; Rather, ample time is left to enjoy each dish.

MENU RECOMMENDATIONS:
This is a place for meat lovers. Start out with the barbequed shrimp appetizer and the Caesar salad before moving on to a classic filet for your main course. For those who want to go all out, nothing beats the surf and turf option; a lobster tail oozing in butter to accompany your steak of choice. Don’t miss out on the creamed spinach and make sure to try one of the potato side dishes, either the lyonnaised potatoes or the mashed potatoes. It’s also a must to save room for dessert and sample the crème brulee that will literally melt in your mouth.

OVERALL RATING: ****1/2
Dining at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is never a gamble. You know exactly what you’re going to get as soon as you enter. The food is of the highest quality, and it never veers from that. The service is attentive, and you are made to feel important even if you are just another man off the street. This restaurant promises you a great meal in a pleasant setting. While there’s no glitz and glamour to be found, there is good food and nice people to serve it.
