Noche is a funky Virginia-Highlands restaurant serving upscale Southwestern fare. Located in the center of the Highlands, it provides the perfect spot to stop for a drink or for dinner before a night out on the town. Reservations are a good idea – especially on weekend nights.

MENU: ****
Southwestern and Mexican dishes are prevalent with a few exceptions. The drink menu boasts an array of margaritas, specialty martinis and other cocktails. Complimentary tri-colored tortilla chips and salsa help to curb hunger as you peruse the menu.

FOOD QUALITY: ****
Combinations are unique, and flavors bold and eccentric. Entrees are prepared as they are ordered and are served hot and fresh.

FOOD PRESENTATION: ****
Noche is big on colorful displays of food. Each dish is neatly arranged and garnishes are abundant.

ATMOSPHERE: ****
The restaurant is funky and colorful in its design. A small bar near the front provides a great place to start an evening out. When the weather is nice, a deck in the back of the restaurant allows for al fresca dining.

CLEANLINESS: ****
The restaurant and bar area are very clean. The tables outside could use a little extra care and cleaning, but that comes with the territory.

SERVICE: ****
The wait staff is very attentive, knowledgeable and happy to recommend drinks and dishes.

MENU RECOMMENDATIONS:
Try the barbecue salmon served with chipotle mashed potatoes. The fish is tender, and the barbecue sauce changes it from the same old standard salmon entrée. The mashed potatoes are divine, whipped up smoothly with an extra punch of flavor. For a Mexican-style entrée, the rotisserie chicken enchiladas or the fajitas are the way to go.

OVERALL RATING: ****
Noche is a great location to start an evening out. The atmosphere is fun and festive, and the dishes are unique and exotic. While some of the exotic entrees work great, some of the appetizers are a bit too jazzed up. Overall, Noche is a place to enjoy good food in a great atmosphere.
