Menu ****1/2
You’ll find inspired versions of your favorite foods at Haven. The appetizer list is seafood heavy with a few vegetarian options. The entrees include plenty of upscale standards like duck and free range chicken, as well as ribeye steak and oxtail ravioli for the red meat lovers. Instead of bombarding you with pages of possibilities, the menu presents a focused range of creative comfort food.

Food quality *****
The bright colors, crisp textures and fresh flavors in every dish tell your taste buds this is exceptional food.

Food presentation ****
Each course is plated on the blank canvas of an oversized white dish, drawing the eye to the colors and textures in each course. The clean, creative look invites you to partake.

Atmosphere ****1/2
The mood at Haven is fashionably relaxed, like designer jeans. The intimate dining room is a balance of activity with an ample bar along one wall and an open kitchen on the opposite. Next to the kitchen, a wine library complete with rolling ladder extends from floor to ceiling, displaying the bottles in a criss-cross pattern of dark wood. The rich tones of the deep stain are echoed on the exposed beams and wood trim throughout the space, stylishly contrasting the creamy white walls. A few well-placed antiques, like a wide-planked farmhouse table and an antique secretary, complete the cozy chic vibe.

Cleanliness *****
Haven’s unobtrusive staff makes it seem effortless to keep the place spotless.

Service ****1/2
While they appear quite well groomed and act amiable, the entire staff is thankfully more concerned with customers than modeling mini skirts or tight Ts.

Menu Recommendations:
Dayboat scallops are an ideal appetizer, pan roasted to caramelized perfection and served alongside buttery brussel sprouts with a drizzle of cider butter. Consider the specials before ordering your entree. We tried the peekytoe crab stuffed in zucchini blossoms and prayed for it to become permanent. The sweet, delicate flavor of the Atlantic rock crab with zesty artichokes, baby arugala and tomato chili vinaigrette makes for a bouquet of tastes and textures. The red wine braised osso bucco is a great standard, demonstrating the epitome of gourmet comfort food. Short ribs are slow cooked until the tender meat falls apart in shredded mounds, releasing savory juices into the soft chunks of smashed red bliss potato with a touch of blue cheese. The Cuban coffee semifreddo dessert is absolute bliss, combining mocha mousse, whipped cream and grated white chocolate.

Overall Rating ****1/2
Simply put, the food at Haven is excellent. The atmosphere will lift your experience to an even higher level, invoking the mood of a warm, friendly dinner party. Just be sure to plan ahead because the cozy dining room fills up fast. And keep an eye out for local celebrity chefs. On my first visit I spotted chef Paul Albrecht, founder of Buckhead Life and Executive Chef at Spice. Dining alongside such culinary royalty practically guarantees a good meal.
