| Goldfish **** 4400 Ashford Dunwoody Road Atlanta, GA 30346 PERIMETER MALL (770) 671-0100 MENU: **** The menu at Goldfish offers an abundance of fresh seafood. Start off by ordering your favorite roll at the sushi bar or chose fresh soup, salad or a seafood appetizer from the menu. Check out the "Today's Catch" section for fresh seafood choices or try a more exotic dish from the House Favorites section. If you find yourself in the mood for land fare, there is also a nice selection of fresh steaks and pork chops. FOOD QUALITY: ***** The seafood is brought in fresh daily, as are the prime cuts of beef. The cheese, herbs and vegetables are also fresh, top-of-the-line items. FOOD PRESENTATION: ***** It takes more than a side of cocktail sauce, crackers and squeeze of lemon to make seafood dressed to impress. At Goldfish, each plate is a work of art. The food is wonderfully plated, topped, sauced and garnished. ATMOSPHERE: ***** The entrance at Goldfish invites you into an open dining room, where high-back booths provide privacy. The mahogany-back bar and gentle sounds of the piano set a romantic tone and are surprisingly cozy. There is plenty of interesting artwork and a beautiful 600-gallon aquarium displaying salt-water fish and other colorful creatures. CLEANLINESS: ***** The restaurant is immaculate. The windows, tables, floors and bathrooms are shiny and smudge-free. SERVICE: *** Hosts give a warm smile and friendly welcome. The service from the bar is attentive but not overly friendly. The staff here does a good job with basic server skills but lacks an edge. MENU RECOMMENDATIONS: **** The seafood soup selection of gumbo, chowder and gazpacho are outstanding. Choose from a delicious Caesar salad to start or try the spinach, arugula, pine nuts, cranberry and goat cheese salad. The salty-sweet combination is divine. Other appetizer highlights include crab spring rolls, spicy Thai curry mussels, fried lobster tail, lump crab cocktail, shrimp cocktail and fresh oysters. For entrees, the teriyaki-glazed Atlantic salmon, Chilean sea bass Hong Kong style and the sinfully rich Cashew and Black Crusted Swordfish are all noteworthy choices. For meat eaters, try the cowboy-cut rib eye or the triple-cut smoked pork chops. Delicious side items include creamy garlic grits, asparagus hollandaise and sautéed spinach. To satisfy your sweet tooth, try the baked apple tart with warm almond cream filling, chocolate soufflé cake or a classic crème brulee. OVERALL RATING: **** The extensive seafood menu at Goldfish is impressive. The dishes are fun and innovative with a variety of flavors in each creation. Perhaps a more seasonal flair would make things a bit more interesting. review by Nikki Brown |
