FOGO DE CHAO ~ casual ****
3101 Piedmont Road
Atlanta, GA 30305
(404) 995-9982

If you are planning to eat at Fogo de Chao, go hungry. No, go ravishing. The fixed price includes an extravagant salad bar, an assortment of beef, chicken and pork, and a never-ending parade of scrumptious side dishes. All meat is on skewers and served tableside by traditional gauchos -- the original Brazilian cowboys who started the tradition of cooking skewers of beef over an open flame for long periods of time. Enjoy your journey into Brazilian culture.

MENU: ****
The salad bar is lined with various types of lettuce, an abundant display of vegetables – from huge asparagus spears to sun-dried tomatoes, an assortment of fruits and cheeses, and a myriad of dressings to top off your salad. Choose from chicken, beef, pork, ribs, sirloin or filet, all on skewers served tableside. Side items include garlic mashed potatoes, polenta cakes and fried bananas.

FOOD QUALITY: ****
The cheese, fruit and vegetable selection at the salad bar are among the freshest in town. The unique herb and spice combinations covering the beef, pork and chicken give distinction and outstanding flavor.

FOOD PRESENTATION: ****
Each table has a red and green chip, which signifies the desire or halt of more food. A green chip alerts servers to offer you additional meat, while the red chip lets them know you’re at a stopping point. Presentation is simple yet effective. People come to devour the endless meat choices, which is the focal point of the restaurant. All meat is served on skewers and the salad bar is constantly replenished.

ATMOSPHERE: ****
The mahogany wood throughout the restaurant and neutral tones are warm and inviting. It could easily seem chaotic with servers constantly moving around the dining room and guests coming and going from the salad bar. Surprisingly, the atmosphere is alive yet relaxing.

CLEANLINESS: *****
The restaurant is sparkling clean. The salad bar is immaculate and well-stocked. Bathrooms are clean and odor free.

SERVICE: *****
Smiles and jovial attitudes from staff members are plentiful. The fact that many servers do not speak flawless English only adds to the charm and Brazilian experience. Staff members are dutiful and friendly.

MENU RECOMMENDATIONS:
The salad bar is an undertaking all its own. Load up with artichoke hearts, fresh mozzarella, the caesura salad, cucumbers and broccoli. All items are fresh and worth a try – there are simply too many to mention. For the main-course meat selection, try the filet, which is wonderful. Picanha, the noblest part of the sirloin, is seasoned with garlic, and the result is pure heaven. Choose from robust pork sausages, legs of lamb, tender pork ribs, chicken drumsticks and chicken breasts wrapped in bacon. The garlic mashed potatoes, fried polenta cakes and fried bananas are perfect accompaniments.

OVERALL RATING: ****
Fogo de Chao sets the standard for “all-you-can-eat” restaurants. The friendly staff, bustling atmosphere and delectable food make it a top-choice restaurant in Atlanta.
