Gary Scarborough

Gary Scarborough is a self-taught pastry chef whose creations grace the menus of three prominent Atlanta restaurants - South City Kitchen, La Tavola Trattoria, and The Food Studio, as well as Bold American Food Co., a full-service event planning and catering firm. All four are ventures of Fifth Group Restaurants, owned and operated by partners Robby Kukler, Steve Simon and Kris Reinhard.

For Scarborough, the proof truly is in the pudding. He attended the New York Restaurant School and was trained as a banquet chef but discovered his affinity for desserts and remarkably developed his talent without further instruction.

His dessert menus receive much critical acclaim. Two creations, a chocolate hazelnut torta and chocolate truffles (Champagne, Grand Marnier, raspberry) served in a white chocolate box, have been featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles “Atlanta’s Ten Best Chocolate Desserts.”

Scarborough won the Master’s Touch Produce Chef’s Choice award for “Best Dessert” in 1999 with a butternut squash pot de crème with mango purée.
